Boater Safety Course

Anyone born after January 1, 1988 must complete a boater safety course before operating a jet ski in Florida.

Important: Complete Before Your Tour

Florida law requires operators born after January 1, 1988 to present a valid boater safety certificate. Complete the online course before your tour date and bring your printed certificate.

How to Get Your Certificate

The process is simple and can be completed entirely online at your own pace.

Choose a Provider

Visit BoatUS Foundation, NASBLA, or another approved provider. All courses meet Florida requirements.

Register & Study

Create an account, study the course material at your own pace. Takes 3–5 hours total.

Pass the Exam

Take the online exam. You can retake it if needed. Most people pass on their first attempt.

04

Print & Bring

Print your temporary certificate (valid 90 days). Bring it to your tour. Your permanent card arrives by mail.
